PDWC26 The Competition

The Professional Driver World Championship 2026 brings together the finest professional commercial drivers from across the globe to compete head-to-head in four core disciplines. Each task is designed to reflect real-world operational challenges and benchmark the highest standards of safety, precision, technical knowledge, and environmental performance.

1. Theory Test

Slug: /theory-test/

This written assessment consists of up to 60 multiple-choice questions. It evaluates a driver’s understanding of:

  • Road safety and defensive-driving principles

  • Commercial-vehicle operational procedures

  • Rules of the road

  • First Aid and emergency awareness

  • ECO driving

The test measures decision-making, regulatory comprehension, and a driver’s ability to apply safety standards under pressure.

2. Pre-Trip Inspection – Defects

Slug: /pre-trip-inspection-defects/

A detailed, practical inspection of a commercial vehicle to verify the driver’s ability to determine whether the vehicle is in a roadworthy, compliant, and safe condition before operation.

Competitors must identify defects, demonstrate methodical inspection routines, and apply professional judgement in line with industry and regulatory standards.

3. Tasks & Parkour

Slug: /tasks-parkour/

A dynamic series of up to 10 real-world driving challenges, simulating the manoeuvres and technical situations commercial drivers face every day.

These precision-based tasks assess:

  • Vehicle control and spatial awareness

  • Manoeuvring accuracy

  • Judgement in confined spaces

  • Hazard perception

  • Ability to follow complex instructions under time constraints

(This discipline includes many of the classic UICR manoeuvring challenges as documented in the “Fahrfertigkeitsaufgaben” ruleset.)

4. ECO Driving

Slug: /eco-driving/

This discipline evaluates a driver’s ability to complete a designated route in live traffic while balancing average speed above 50 km/h with the lowest possible fuel consumption.

Drivers are assessed on:

  • Smoothness and consistency of driving

  • Anticipation and situational awareness

  • Efficient gearbox and throttle use

  • Minimising emissions and overall environmental impact

ECO Driving rewards the driver who can combine punctuality, sustainability, and operational excellence.
